Hungarian-born saxophonist, composer and arranger Máté Drippey started learning music at the age of seven. When he turned 14, he picked up the saxophone after hearing the music of Stan Getz and started taking music more seriously. He graduated at the jazz department at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music at the age of 22. He is now pursuing a master's degree in Lausanne at the Haute École de Musique. Besides being a jazz saxophonist, Máté Drippey writes music for his own projects as well as for Symbiosis 5, and he creates orchestrations ranging from small ensemble formations to ten-piece bands.

Máté Drippey has performed with notable figures of the international and Hungarian jazz scene such as Mihály Borbély, László Dés, Kornél Fekete-Kovács, János Ávéd the Modern Art Orchestra, Bendik Hofseth, Nathalie Dessay, Jean-François Baud, Mauro Martins and Thomas Dobler, Mathieu Michel, Bänz Oester.

He has played at some important international festivals such as the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, ZWE Jazz Club in Vienna, the Stravinsky Hall in Montreux, the Jumeaux and the Chorus jazz clubs in Lausanne, the Bueño Jazz Festival and the Eivissa Jazz Festival in Spain and several venues in his country such as the Müpa Budapest, the Opus Jazz Club, the Budapest Jazz Club and at the Valley of Arts.

Máté Drippey was awarded the Junior Prima Prize in 2024.
